With all the other alternatives out there, why are you using Internet Explorer? Again only answer if you use IE more than any other broswer.
Just interested.

It's the only browser I use, simply because it's there! I've tried Mozilla, HATED IT!:D
Because it is the best overall. A question for you: Why do you hate IE?
I don't hate IE. In fact I too use it. I was just wondering if say there were more than one browser to choose from at the beginning of your computing experience, would you necessarily choose IE...
I was also thinking of trying a new browser. I like choice and I like being able to choose alternatives.
Sorry to confuse anyone to think that I am anti IE.. I am not.

I don't like Mozilla, but once you get used to tabbed browsing (phoenix), it's hard to go back. I have 11 "home" pages open up automatically in tabs, as soon as I start the browser.
The only time I use IE, is when a web page (paulsonator.com) won't let me upload a file with Phoenix.
i use opera because of the tabs and the popup blockers mainly when I go to sites to get my back up copies of programs:D because of all the porn and pop up ads....but regular surfing I use IE also.
I use internet explorer because it came with the computer and for that fact i dont need to change.
i dont use winzip because xp has its own.
i dont use nero because xp has its own.
i dont use paintshop because xp has its own
etc. etc. etc.......
You get the picture:)
the truth is i only use ie for internet browsing
i still use all the other programs listed above because they are better lol!
cheers

I use IE simply because its part of the Windows install.
To be honest, there are a lot of alternatives out there, but all browsers basically serve the same purpose, and that is to display a webpage on your screen.
Just my opinion. ;)
My only niggle with IE is the security flaws that seem to be found on a regular basis, requiring yet another patch to be installed.
I was thinking most of you use it because it was already there, easy to use and required no installation. I wonder what browser you would be using had MS not pre-installed IE into the windows operating system. Would you be using Opera, Mozilla, Netscape, or some other broswer?
I know I use IE because it works, it was already installed, and required no extra effort on my part. I didn't even need to configure it at all to get it to work..
Too bad some companies aren't making their own browsers, and really changing the browser scene. Like a Dell Broswer, or a COmpaq Browser, or a Sony Browser. We have the AOHell browser IE netscape on crack, but it sucks.
I guess what I mean is that what if MS started charging for its' browser? Just like they did with MSN 8. After so many people go used to using MSN 7, they went and started charging for it..
So what do you do when MS decides that you have to pay to use their product? Or better yet, they slip code in IE, if they haven't already (alexa anyone?) that tracks everything you do, everything you download, etc...
I am not anal about IE. It is a good product and so far it is free. I agree there are some security issues, and some that are not even resolved.
I just wondered why you use IE.

I use IE when I go to windows update :D but after using Phoenix (faster, popupblocker, tabs, lynchknot skins&icons) it's hard to put myself through the torture of using IE for anything else ;)
I use IE because it is pre-installed and Im too lazy to d/l something else:)
It may have its security flaws but as long as you keep them incheck you should be right, tried Mozilla and Opera and didnt like them too much so I will just stick with the easiest option
I used IE for several years, in spite of my antipathy for things MS, for two main reasons:
1) History. I'm constantly going back to look for something I saw a day or two ago and Netscape was useless for that. (But does Windows IE have history? I was using IE on a Japanese version of Windows IE last night an accidently closed a window. I couldn't find any way to get it back without enterning the domain and then clicking through to the page....)
2) Scrapbook. I like the Scrapbook function. It's much easier to save a page than going to the File menu and easier to get back to the page, too.
Last week I started using Safari. It's great in most ways, but lacks the Scrapbook, so I might end up going back. The jury's still out....

I use IE simply because it's there. I did use Netscape for a while a few years back but continued going back to IE and now that's all I use.
I might look into Phoenix after hearing so much about it in this forum.
I am a IE fan myself. It works so I stick with it.........
I feel like Internet Explorer is my baby cause i've watched it grow and its on all my operating systems since the birth of ie.
it is a safety risk but only if your a bank.
if your a kazaa user than you give what you get, lol!

I use IE because I am an upgrade junkie. You know "There is a newer version of IE please click here".I got MSN 8 working with my satellite so I use that mostly when I download stuff because it has a built in download manager and is very quick. When I want tabbed browsing I use MY IE.Had Netscape 4.7 long time ago.
So do you all not feel a little bit scared that MS might secretly be logging all your actions on the web?
Just wondering.
BB
It doesn't matter what browser you use.Quote:

Ultimately,it's the Operating system that controls what goes out, and may,or may not get logged. ;)
If it ain't broke, don't fix it? ;)
but a browser logs all of your interactions with the web. It's the first line of interaction. When you do online shopping, you enter you credit card numbers in browser forms, personal information, phone numbers etc...
BB
like a firewall blocks information in and out, so too could a browser with say built in firewall protection, 128 bit encryption, and it wouldn't be MS code running the browser...
But I agree for the most part IE is a decent product.. but I think it's used basically because there is no extra effort to run it... unfortunate for all those other browser developers. It's almost communist like... one size fits all, one browser for the masses..
BB
Well as far as I know Phoenix doesn't do all this secret logging :) and since I've been using Phoenix there's been no need to use Spyder or programs such as too get rid of the secret url & reg files that M$ IE hides all over the place.
At first I didn't like Phoenix cuz it was diffrent and needed to be set up with plug in extensions....but ooooh how nice it is once you do so....you have much more control over what you want and don't want , what it can and can't do....:D Phoenix isn't perfect , but at least I don't have too worry about running to Windows update ta get the latest security fix , heck some of those security fixes are larger than the whole dam Phoenix program :(
Anyway no one has to worry about me being a part of some DOS attack.....now let me put a check in the Google Bot ext. , ahhh it's nice being a Google Web crawller....hehe
I saw a post at a newssite the other day about google and the cached webpages that should have been password protected and I thought of you fastgame and your pheonix browser :)

Phoenix is only a few months old. It's still basically beta at version 0.5 - but it's great!
Egghead, what does that mean?
I think it means you & I are*[edit]SleaseBag[/edit]* Web crawlers and we should not be [edit] in Web sites and reading all the Magizines and enjoying other things that are limited to [edit] members.....Quote:

IE6 is the most popular for obvious reasons, but it also makes web page design easier if everyone uses the same.
Other browser all try to be clever and only end up making it difficult to support
Ie6 works and to be honest, what more do you need
To sum it up, I think you need choice, imagine what it would be like to only have one beverage to choose from... it would suck... even though it tastes good now, after a while it will get old.
