knoppix is easy but...
Hey there guys,
I recently tried knoppix 3.9 and boy was I satisfied with it :D
Knoppix was really easy 2 use, I just poped in the cd and bam the next minute i'm using knoppix!
Thats how easy it was, but the time I tried Gentoo, oh my that was HARD!!!!
just to configure it and doo those thing, whoa, at the end i just gave up, but with linux its really easy
But I only got one little problem, i would luv it to be used without booting it from the cd, cuz, it slows up sometime, and i dont like that verry much.
So if ne of u guys culd help me by telling me how to actually install knoppix on my computer, (without screwing my windows xp, cuz i still wanna use my windows sometimes) without booting on the cd it will be nice.
If you actualy find no possibilities to do that, well can u suggest me another linux version thats also has a easy instalation like knoppix, without using any codes or commands cuz i suk in those
Anyways thanks in advance

Yes to both. Check out the forums first, you'll see how others are dual booting.
-
well now i'm downloading it, i dun see wut culd harm anything there:D, but i'd like u to tell me how 2 install it, i preffer if u tell me for the installation, cuz i cant rely on anybody on the ubuntu forum, i rather ask these question to people i know ;)
-
actualy nvm i think i figured it out, but if u got anything 2 add, then post away:D

thx for the link, but they only say red hat and fedora
is it the same for ubuntu?

Honestly I am preferring Xandros and Suse to Ubuntu...Xandros does have a free distro.
http://www.xandros.com/
-
I was going to suggest Suse too
-
But is Suse easyer to install then ubuntu???
Remember i'm a newbie on this linux thing,
-
Xandros is VERY easy to install. Suse isn't much harder...
-
Yeah, will I already downloaded the 3 first cds for the installation of suse 9.3, and plus i'm getting it for the partion suse creates by its own, not like ubuntu.
But I need a installation guide for suse 9.3 so can someone help me for that??

I would stay stick with knoppix. Btw the new knoppix 4 maxi edition is out. Its a bootable DVD now with 9gb of programs! Anyways, you can mount live linux onto ur hard drive and there are manuals out there telling you how to do it. Infact I think I remember reading somewhere that knoppix 4 contains better ways of doing this but I don't know.
Whatever you try, have fun with linux but being a MS person myself I'd advise staying away from all the codes and stuff, leave that to the pros ;)
