Finally got it to recognize my floppy boot disks by resetting my BIOS to defaults then just changing the floppy seek (it may have reactivated the self-test).

Haven't got the CD-rom anymore. Just tried the boot disks in another computer and (whilst CD5 had a problem), the first CD worked fine and took me to the Windows setup screen.

I am trying to reboot from 6x XP setup disks but my computer won't recognise the first disk. I have gone into my setup and enabled it to seacrh from floppy disk for booting, but it still doesn't go...
No joy I'm afraid. I created a floppy boot disk and used the XP cd but it doesn't seem to want to recognise the CD/A: before it gets to the login screen.
What do i do now??
This souns like precisely the same problem I am having right now. Is there any other option than a new install cos I can't find my boot disk?
And where does this come from? Any way of protecting...
I often find that cheaper CDs are ignored quite often even if I *know* there is stuff on them. Try a few different CDR/CDRWs first - it may be as simple as the disk is a bit crap!
It gives me that option in safe mode but i doesnt accept any particular passwords, nor a blank one. I don't think one was ever set up, but nonetheless i can't seem to get in via that.
