    Windows XP SP2 Release Candidate 2

    Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) provides an enhanced security infrastructure that defends against viruses, worms and hackers, along with increased manageability and control for IT professionals and an improved experience for users.

    To aid IT professionals in planning and testing for the deployment of Windows XP SP2, Microsoft is making available this preview, based on Release Candidate 2 (RC2) of the SP2. Additionally, we have established 11 newsgroups for sharing information.

    Note: This technical preview is unsupported and is intended for testing purposes only. Do not use in production environments.

    I have one of the older sp2's installed on my computer and i love it

    so many new features

    can't have a fresh xp install without sp2

    going to slipstream it when it gets final

    love it

    RC1 prevented this certain porn site from displaying, had to use FireFox for it to display once again. That's when I decided to reformat and go back to SP1.

    Exclamation Sp2 Rc2

    Running fine without any major issues...

    Only one that I found a pain was the Windows Update problem that some people seem to be having.

    Solution below:

    O.K. GOOD NEWS!!!

    Someone in one of the Beta newsgroups has found a solution for this error when trying to update the Windows Update Site and getting the "0x80070005" error.

    I am posting it for you so that mabey you can help someone else with this issue.
    It worked like a charm.
    It seemed to happen only after installing SP2 RC1 or SP2 RC2.
    Hope this info is helpful.
    Please reply to me to let me know your opinion.....

    SEE PROCEDURE BELOW:

    Windows Update error 0x80070005 fix:

    v5 Windows Update error 0x80070005 from WindowsUpdate.log:
    Registration failed with error 0x80070005 or
    InstallUpdatedBinaries failed with error 0x80070005 or
    UpdateClientWorker failed: error 0x80070005


    Step 1: Error 0x80070005 accessing the Windows Update .v5 beta site, please try the following: Click Start > Run > Type the follow commands in the Open box (one at a time, in sequence):

    REGSVR32 C:\WINDOWS\system32\wuapi.dll

    REGSVR32 C:\WINDOWS\system32\wuaueng.dll

    REGSVR32 C:\WINDOWS\system32\atl.dll

    REGSVR32 C:\WINDOWS\system32\wucltui.dll

    REGSVR32 C:\WINDOWS\system32\wups.dll
