Restoring accounts and message rules -- outlook express on old hard drive

I had XP installed on an older hard drive,, but now I"m running XP on a new hard drive. I want to use my message rules and accounts settings from the old hard drive's outlook express and XP. How can I import them into my new version of outlook xpress on my new hard drive? I was able to import the files and folders just by copy and pasting, but I can't access the accounts and message rules. I think they're store in the old registry,, can I edit that?
    Thanks

I've read those, and they don't solve the problem because when I try to run the version of outlook express from my old hard drive the current version of XP i'm running now opens it as the new version of outlook express. The same thing happens when i try to run the old regedit. Windows doesn't let you do that. I need to figure out how to edit the registry files from my old windows XP install on my old hard drive.
