Remove Outlook Express’s Splash Screen
For those of you who use Outlook Express, you’ll notice that a splash screen appears on your desktop as it is opening. Some of you may not mind this, while some of you may want to get rid of it. Personally, I don’t see the point in having the splash screen there. Is it to remind me that I just launched the program?
So if you want, you can further customize Outlook Express. If you perform the steps outlined below and make a small change to the registry, the splash screen will no longer appear as Outlook Express starts.
1. Open the registry.
2. Navigate to the following registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Identities\{0D8DFBA1-1618-4EFC-8D56-53A24A20AF75}\Software\Microsoft\Outlook Express\5.0
3. Click Edit, point to New and click DWORD value.
4. Type in NoSplash.
5. Double click the new DWORD value and change the value to 1. Click OK.
6. Close the registry.
