Arrow Office 2003 Suite Service Pack 1 Released

Microsoft quietly has released the latest service pack 1 for Office 2003 suite. Going to the office update site.

    Try the Update

    Build numbers after SP1 installation

    Outlook 2003 (11.6359.6360) SP1
    Word 2003 (11.6359.6360) SP1
    Excel 2003 (11.6355.6360) SP1
    Access 2003 (11.6355.6360) SP1
    InfoPath 2003 (11.6357.6360) SP1
    PowerPoint 2003 (11.6361.6360) SP1
    Publisher 2003 (11.6255.6360) SP1

Unfortunately at the time of this posting the automatic update is not working. I will keep trying later on.

A standalone version has yet to be released.

Well, its about time that they did so. But I'll wait for the standalone install version because I don't like the Office Automatic Update.

It's painfully slow and you'll need the CD. And it finishes with a request to reboot your system.

Many thanks to egghead for the cool .sig

    Try the direct download

Office 2003 Service Pack 1 contains significant security enhancements, in addition to stability and performance improvements. Service Pack 1 (SP1) also includes many performance and feature enhancements to Microsoft Office InfoPath 2003.

Some of the fixes included with SP1 have been previously released as separate updates. This service pack combines them into one update.

Download: Client install (17.9 MB) | Admin install (72.1 MB)

    Also available via Office Update

I just installed SP1 for 2003, yes, its very slow and I have to download the patches seperatly for OneNote, Visio and Project. But its worth the while as InfoPath and OneNote obviously becomes more useful with the added features of more tools and functions. Though Word, Excel, Powerpoint remains generally unchanged. Publisher also has some cool changes.

My auto update worked fine. No CD required but I did need to reboot.
