ive had to do a reinstall of windows xp on my computer cos it wont boot up cos its missing a .dll file i forget which but i have a legal copy of xp but i cant for the life of me find my product key and i was wondering if theres a way to find it ON THE CD not the registry cos it wont boot up! but if i put the cd in a diff comp and poke around it is there a way to find the product key on the cd??? thanks

nO! i just need to know if i can look at the product key ON THE CD!! why cant anyone figure that out!?
there is no key on the cd, the cd is a mass produced item, to encode individual cd keys on every cd is impossible
then how come all the keys ive tried have said that its invalid?? ive tried like a million and every keygen out there, any suggestions?

I suggest you lose the attitude,otherwise no one will be prepared to give you an answer.If you had run the repair first,instead of rushing into a reinstall you wouldn't have this problem.Originally Posted by rickjones
From the tone of your replies and the fact that you have admitted using "illegal" keygens suggests to me that your copy of XP may not be legit. However if it is legit,contact Microsoft and explain your situation.They will probably ask for the numbers that can be found printed on the centre of the CD.With that info they will issue a new key.
As far as i am aware the CD key cannot be extracted directly from the CD,otherwise there would be no point in M$ printing it on the case sticker.
