That's a by-product of installing .NET. You can delete it, but I use Powertoys Tweak UI to hide it. In fact I think it hides it by default.
i hope i'm not being paranoid without a reason...i see that in control panel-user settings... there is a limited, password protected user account by the name 'ASP.NET Machine A...'...it doesn show on the logon screen and i wanted somebody else's opinion before i deleted it....

I also noticed that account but I still do not know what its purpose is. If you install the recent .NETFramework update, that account disappears.

is microsoft .net 1.1 the latest version? because that is wat i have and i still see the account...
