Problem when add a new HDD on Dual boot system!!!

    Hi All,

We have a computer with dual boot, win 98SE in C Driver and win 2000 Advanced Server on D Driver (formatted to NTFS), and E Driver for Documents., F Driver for DVD

Now I want to add one more HDD, with 2 partitions .. After that we meet the problem.

New HDD change positions of partitions on 2 HDDs,
    C. Win 98 (HDD1)
    D. First partition (HDD2)
    E. Win 2000 (HDD1)
    F. Documents Store (HDD1)
    G. Second Partion (HDD2)
    H. DVD Driver

When I boot with windows 98, it's OK

When I boot with windows 2000, Safe mode is OK, but in normal we have a blue screen in starting

..... Make sure hard disk properly configured .... and give advice to remove a new HDD driver :-(

Pls to have me repaire that fault.

    Thanks very much
    Best Regards

When you formatted the new harddrive, it looks like you made a primary partition. That caused it to take the drive D: position.

That probably caused all your registry pointers to point to the wrong drive letter and supplies the errors.

One Guy in PCGuide ask me make second disk with all logical (no Primary), but I have still problem!!!

And now I formated all first hard disk, partition again but when I use 2 hard disk, I can not setup windows 2000 Advanced server!!! :-(

Do you have any suggest for me to use both of HDDs for dual boot???

    Thanks,

Marry Chrismas and Happy New Year to You!!!

Sorry, will need more details like before. Partition layout and drive letters. And of course you will install Win98 first on drive C: and Win2000 second.

Did using now primary partitions on second drive reorder driveletters?

    Hi jseymour,

    Now I partitioned 2 HDDs following: HDD1 - 40 GB, HDD2 - 20 GB

    C. Primary, Win 98 (HDD1) - are running 12GB
    D. Extention (logical partition) Win 2000 (HDD1) - prepare for win 2000 - installation!!! 28 GB

    E. Extention (logical partition 1) Documents Store (HDD2)
    F. Extention (logical partition 2) Second Partion (HDD2)

now the error is diffirent: Windows 2000 determined D drive have corruption ... but scandisk, ndd, PQmagic is OK.

I have ever used win2000 but with only one HDDs, the problem occur when I add more ADD. I can not remove one HDD, it's stupid!!!

Pls. give me more advice ...

    Thanks

    Happy New Year!!!

    Time./.

How big are the partitions (all of them) and what filesystems (all of them)?
What are you using to partition with?
