How do I play this with Windows Media Player
*COUGH*
I have a video on I burned to CD and cannot play it with Windows Media Player. There are two .dat files in the folder MPEGAV, I right-clicked, selected open with, selected WMP, and receive an error message that WMP does not support the format. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks

Do you have DivX codecs installed?

I'll look around for those codecs. WMP plays some .dat stuff but not this one. I'm getting PowerDVD now.
Thanks

Sounds like a VCD or SVCD...
Rename .DAT to .MPG. If your default media player doesn't open and play them they are not VCD files (MPEG1).
Try install and MPEG2 codec (install PowerDVD or other DVD software). If your default media player doesn't open and play them they are not SVCD files (MPEG2).
Try the DivX codecs or MPEG4 codecs. There are a few MPG4 codecs around so do a seach. The best MPG4 codec I fond was only a couple of files where you right-click on the INI file and choose install. Worked great!
Hope this helps.

It plays now. I grabbed PowerDVD 4.0 and it played it automatically. I also downloaded all the codecs that were suggested.
Thanks Guys.

Um..*cough*....
Your CD is in SVCD format, uses MPEG 2, and not the traditional MPEG1....
Just get a software DVD player to play it...PowerDVD, WinDVD, whatever...and it will play.
