that depends on how you are going to use it. However, I like pro because I want it all, not for any professional reason (and, honestly, because I don't know the difference)

ya seriously if you dont need all of the extra administrative capabilities of PRO like group policies there is really no point in getting it

You don't need a car capable of 180mph but it's nice to have and knowing that it's capable and maybe someday you might use it - feels good. High tech is lovely. Higher tech is beautiful.

If you need the extras of XP Pro then its well worth the $$.

I have XP Pro but I could get by with XP Home just the same.

Hmm. I'm using a home network which consists of 2 PC's, 1 laptop (occasionally 2), router and Wireless Access point. I've had the opportunity to use both XP Pro and XP home and I cannot tell the difference. I'm probably going to make a pratt out of myself once again, but when you mention a domained network? what's that?

Browsing throughthe prices of OEM XP products, for the sake of £20 I would probablly stump up for XP Pro with the logic that I've got the 'extras' should I need it. I'm just very curious what the advantages of a Pro version is.

a domain network is where each pc logs into the server vs a work group where everyone is a work station just sharing files. no domain rights, restrictions, group policies and the such.

Ah ha, well I can't see me running a dedicated server as my home network is more than ample for my needs atm. Unless I poach my next door neighbours server, I'm sure he won't notice me taking it ...
