Tonya,
after you ran the recovery cd furnished by hp, did the computer function normally? excluding your cable connection of course.
Next, did your cable company furnish any kind of software that may need to be reinstalled? It may be as simple as calling your cable provider for help getting their equipment reconfigured. HP's
recovery cd should have put your puter back to factory specs at time of shipment.
