What company are you with in terms of internet service? Charter, Roadrunner, earthlink?

I would recommend doing all the updates except for the SONY VIAO update, and the movie maker update..

Try that and then report to us your findings. If it doesnt work, I highly recommend exchanging your Machine for a new one. First let's try to exhaust all of your options.
