Microsoft Virtual Machine
I am somewhat at a loss here... I am running Windows XP Pro and I am constantly informed by all kinds of sites that I need to download Microsoft Java Virtual machine. I am often redirected to the proper Microsoft Virtual Machine download site only to be told that VM does not exist for my OS. I have searched for several days to no avail... HELP !

i was told that m$ no longer supports the download of virtual machine
i tried many times after getting the error and taken to the download page and it says the vitual machine is no longer available
i have it on cd so i dont care to much anymore but at the time i had to search for an alternate java and was bombarded with "please give a valid email and we will give you the link to the download site"
i dont know why m$ doesnt offer virtual machine anymore but if m$ provides a download could you post it here first
cheers

You're right Egghead, the Virtual Machine does not come as part of the Service Pack. Personally I prefer MS' Virtual Machine to Sun's because with Sun, an icon pops up in the system area whenever a java applet is encountered. The only way to remove this icon is to close all browser windows, just a minor annoyance.

i cant uninstall virtual machine
i guess i wont know untill i format
but i went to windows update
got this
Security Update, March 4, 2002
Download size: 5.2 MB, 4 minutes
This update resolves the "Java Applet Can Redirect Browser Traffic" security vulnerability in the Microsoft virtual machine (Microsoft VM) on Windows XP and Windows Millennium Edition (Windows Me), and is discussed in Microsoft Security Bulletin MS02-013. Download now to prevent a maliciously crafted Java program ("applet") from silently re-routing all browser traffic to the applet’s host without the user’s knowledge.
and to think i just found this now
lol
