I am trying to change my security settings on IE to low and it wont let me.

    it says

    error

the recommended settings for this zone is "medium"
the level you have chosen is lower than this. please choose a security level of "medium" or higher

whats the problem and how can i change the security level to go below medium?

    thanks

    very strange...

Is there are particular reason why you need to ave the security settings that low?

You will give any malicious website advertisers complete control on what will be installed on your computer without you knowing.

    that is very strange.

You might have a setting or program that is protecting you from the website.

You can try installing firefox to see if you can view the site.

It has better protection at the moment.

    get it here,
    www.mozilla.com

if the website your trying to view is safe for family you can post it here for others to see if they can figure it out for you.

i get the same thing with mozilla firefox. settings are too high and i cant figure out how to lower them. the thing is that it might work with mozilla if i could lower the settings. i could not access the site even before the problem with ie

so theres the chance of it working if you can lower settings in mozilla firefox

    is there a way?

If you are sure the site is OK add it to your trusted sites list (you may need to uncheck the 'use https' box first) - never set the internet site to low.
I'm using Windows 7 - you got a problem with that?

no i have no cookie blocking app. I dont have any firewalls either.

Altough i did have norton antivirus and internet securities and uninstalled them last week but the uninstall button is still there in add remove programs under control panel.

the program was unintalled using an uninstall tool provided by Norton because i was getting the error. when i press remove button for norton internet securitiy it says error 16606. could not access network location %userprofile%/recent.

dont know if that has anything to do with it.

The site i am trying to access is www.plentyoffish.com. i can access the site and browse around but when i try to log in with my username and password i get a screen that says settings are too high.

I can provide my username and password if need be. nothing important to worry about

problem has been resolved. sorty of

the problem had nothing to do with security settings.

but one problem still exists, i still cant lower my internet security settins to mediumlow or low. i get an error. this is not critical but it would be nice to have everything in working order

    thank you

Hi shahdad, the site works fine for me

Altough i did have norton antivirus and internet securities
Hmm that could be the problem ???

You should install the NAV/NIS again and see if the site works, or were you using a trial ?

Then uninstall Nortons through "Add & Remove" and reboot PC. Next use Norton Removal Tool and reboot PC. Then do a search for "Symantec/Norton" on your PC and delete anything you find. After that is done use Regcleaner to get rid of anything that may be left.

Then use Windows Installer CleanUp Utility and see if there's any "Symantec" or "Norton", if there is clean it out.

You should be using a firewall and there's plenty of good Free ones you won't last long without one......
