I'm running Win98,
Is there a way to FTP files to a server/website ?

yes you can use the built in ftp client that is run from DOS or you can download a client. Smart ftp is a free ftp client for personal use.

Can you tell me more about the 'built in' method ?
How would I initiate it ? and what are some of the common commands.

thanks rik from the dos command you can try
ftp>>>enter
help>>enter
this will give you a list of dos commands that will allow you to transfer and download files to/from a ftp server. Using this method is strictly from the dos command so no gui or mouse will be available.
