Go to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services
Scroll down the menu and right click Messenger, then click the Stop button.
Change the Startup type to disabled and click apply.

    Open Outlook Express
Go to Tools > Options. On the General tab uncheck "automatically logon to Windows Messenger." Click OK.
