    USER32.dll error

Am trying to play a game but on launch of exe... keep getting "the procedure entry point GetRawInputDeviceInfoW could not be located in the dynamic link library USER32.32.dll.
I have installed latest version of DirectX and renamed the d3d8thk file which was giving a similar error. Can anyone help with fixing this error. Thanks in anticipation

What game? Is it the full version or a demo version?

Have you tried reinstalling XP SP2.

So you are using 2000 not XP?

    Moved to 2000 forum.

Yes . FYI NBA live 06 plays fine... could it be something to do with the installer not installing all files?

Can you run dxdiag from the Run box with no errors.

Is that definately the correct filename??

Never heard of USER32.32.dll, should be USER32.dll

Uninstall the game, then reinstall DirectX 9.0c. Can you run dxdiag now without errors.

Check the Event Viewer and see if the error is listed there. If so, what does it say?

Apart from ths error : "The device, \Device\CdRom0, has a bad block." Nothing about dxdiag or user32.dll

I am including several links that explain what Event Viewer is and how it can be used. Useful information can be gleaned from the logs, but in typical fashion they don't make it easy for the everyday user to interpret.
Take a look at these and see if they help.

Don't be intimidated if the articles are for Windows NT or Windows 2000. Event Viewer for those is the same as in XP.

When you said you renamed d3d8thk? Did you install directx 9, restart into safe mode, delete d3d8thk.dll from the c:/winnt/system32 folder. Then rename the d3d8thk.w2k to d3d8thk.dll.

Just want to clarify that is what you did. That is the common fix for this problem. If you cannot find the d3d8thk.w2k file, it's located in the directx install cab. I can't remember which but I could find it.
