    Question legacy style racing

What racing games would you say were the great games prior to Gran Turismo? Pole Position and Bump N' Jump are pretty legendary.

In the Sega Sand Buggy game? The buggy goes over the diorama conveyor belt and if you make a mistake the car flips on two wheels, pauses, (time penalty for your driving error) and then resumes on 4 wheels.

I haven't played that particular one, but I have seen their kind. But the arcades got rid of most of the electro mechanical / pinball machines when videogames came in. The old mechanical games were really loud (mechanical sound & audio soundtrack).
