Even tho i DO have the cd key that came with the computer? i wrote the # down before throwing the tower out..

Will i be able to maybe buy the xp home upgrade package rather then the full install cd? 200 bucks is alot of money to be spending on something i allready have

Big booger hit it right on the head with that one.. i mean i bought a damn comp with a windows cd key why shouldnt i be able to install that on any pc i want, so long as its only installed on one PC.

The XP license you purchased with your dell is an OEM license which means it's only good for Dell. That's it, end of story, thank you come again.

Now if you purchased a retail copy XP (box product) you can transfer XP from one PC to another, that's something different from OEM.

In summary, your only legal option is to bite the bullet and purchase the full version copy of XP.
