a friend of mine has win98 SE installed,
he says that if he right clicks on a file it doesn't give him the "choose program" option (you know,to open a program with).
is this correct?
if so,how would he choose a program to open a file with?
cheers.

thats correct...some progs you will get a right click menu "open with" but not all the time. I think he would have to associate that file with the prog he wants to use...say like *.jpg you would have to open photoshop and associate all *.jps with photoshop(example) give it a whirl let me know if it helps.
cheers phishhead for that.
problem is,
this goes back to me burning V.CDs.
i lent this guy a disk, but if he has no right click option how can he associate the *.DAT file in the "mpegav" folder?
he needs to play it with WMP.
cheers.

Has he tried opening the file in Windows Media Player by choosing File > Open, and browsing to the file.
Also has he tried double clicking the file, this should bring up an "open with" window.

The quick and easy method is to hold down the shift key while you right-click...that will bring up the "Open With" selection. Then you just procede from there to pick your app and decide if you want to make it the default.![]()
that sounds useful to know, cheers Ramchip and,Originally posted by Ramchip
