how to remove vista dual boot

i recently installed vista on a seperate partition, keeping windows xp intact. i then decided to remove vista, so what i done was format the partition, then re-merge with C:\. but now it still asks which operating system do i want to boot with? how can i remove this, even bypassing this screen would help. thanks!
