xp + usb key = bluescreen

I have a problem with my XP since 2 weeks

When i insert my usb drive , i have a blue screen and a reboot of my pc

plz if anyone can help

Hi Anna,welcome to TZ first of all.What kind of USB drive do you have?Pen,hard drive,cd or dvd?Did your drive come with usb drivers?If so install or reinstall them.Another thing I thought of is the version of your drive ie.(1.1 or 2.0)versus your computer's usb capabilities.If your machine is only capable of usb 1.1 then a usb 2.0 hardware device could make xp bluescreen or restart.

First of all , my usb flash 128 Mo drive is usb 1 and I use it for 1 year perfectly.

But only since 2 weeks , i have this problem

Are you able to test the drive in another PC, just to make sure its not defective ?

similiar thing happens to me - fat table was corrupted and for safety I press the shift key when inserting the drive - that way no autoplay
