    Thermal issues maybe? Power supply? Like Piper said, please post more info on your system and the situation surrounding the shutdowns.

    Why did you reformat your PC - is it because of this problem and you hoped that it would cure it. From the limited symptoms that you have described (ie you can't turn it back on for a few hours) it would most likely appear to be a hardware issue PSU, MB or CPU fan. Each of these sub components have built in safeguards which will sometimes prevent you turning th PC back on.
    I'm using Windows 7 - you got a problem with that?

    Say could this problem be a hard drive problem? the power supply is brand new, and could it also be the motherboard doesn't like the power supply for some odd reason? What type of information do you need, sorry I didn't give you guys more information I didn't know on what kind of information that you are looking for....
