cant get rid of idwlog. please hepl me
i hate this thing
how can i stop it from doing anything
whats the programs name that is using this log file

Wasn't this with the Beta SP1? Did you install the Final?

hi conan:
it was in the beta but deleted the idwlog.exe in system32
i have sp1 final installed and found the idwlog directory and cant disable it
the log is trying to connect to the internet and doing weird tests that i want stopped
what the hell does it try to do

egghead,
I had to run msconfig, and delete it from the startup menu...
Then I went in and manually deleted the file. Then I grabbed another .exe file and renamed it to the idwlog.exe...
So far so good...

wow!
this is only the log file
what is the program that wants to log onto the server and do tests and report my machine id and user names?
i searched in the reg for idwlog and deleted the one search and now my idwlog directory is permanantly deleted
but i couldnt find idwlog.exe in my windows/system32 directory
this creeps me out
glad to have the crew help

found it in the i386 folder
C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386\idwlog.exe

how can i kill the main program?

I'm still in the process of finishing my SP1 download and I've found Expiorer.exe in my Windows Fonts folder trying to connect to the internet?!

I'm almost done getting it off a private ftp. 6 minutes to go now. I guess I will reformat due to the bugs residing in my Windows Fonts folder. Norton didn't find anything.

i bet it was due to increased bandwith

i had sp1beta
than i put the final on
thats when i noticed it was back
i will do a fresh install soon
i want to get a cool desktop and stylesxp wont work with xpsp1 yet
btw
the search function failed to locate it but i found it after snooping thru my directories
