Delete everything in %systemroot%\Performance\WinSAT\DataStore apart from the latest file. Reboot and reassess.

My score is 4.2, not bad for outdated hardware.

Yes. Time to change the Sig too since the hardware is already ancient!

I downloaded and installed a more recent, though not dell-customized driver. I still get that error message.

LOL, excellent news Conan... car parts always come first

But why do u need new turbo? I hope those Drift King moves havent chipped a blade!?

I was also looking at the E6600, very crisp performance.

My current turbo is making a lot of noise (bearings must be failing). I only used it for 5 years. I should be making a lot more power with the new one though.

Back to topic: I still can't complete the assessment. Attached is a side-by-side comparison of the last successful run of winsat with the most recent failure. The difference is in red. Someone read it and advise. I've run gspot, which reports no codec problems, but I still think that's the issue. So how do I reinstall/repair wmp 11, w/o having to reinstall Vista?

OK, i checked out the file compare... how do you know the test successfully completed for the left column? at the bottom it said it failed due to an error, the same as the right column...

You might be able to download the stand-alone WMP11 installation file, then do an install over the top. This might repair some corrupt files.

Can u do a system restore back to when it was working?

Because of the date -- that's the only one I ran that day, and the exit code=0, aka successful. The stand-alone file is for xp, not vista. and since I'm clueless as to when this went blooey, system restore is out.

Solution: I reinstalled Vista. winsat works just fine, but when I right-click the desktop and select personalize, nothing happens. Can't open it from Windows Help, Control Panel. Can't find the desktop control panel in system 32. wtf?
