I'll try to put an old HD in and download all the new packages, are they usually large files?

All the packages could be large, I install them as they come out so its not bad, but, I know in a short time they'll be large (300+MB). The new KDE desktop and everything that goes with it plus new OpenOffice are in testing and ready to be moved to general.....In this case I'll go somewhere with high speed net and download the packages to USB drive then add them to Synaptic manually.

But would all these new things still fit on the liveCD?

Thanks for the info FastGame.. is the bootcode for a DVD the same as CD?
