    Angry Extreme Network break-downs

    Hi!

Two weeks ago I decided to reinstall my both PCs. Both PCs are now up-to-date with newest service packs and security updates (Windows XP – SP2). But unfortunately since that reinstallation I have on both PCs extremely network break-downs.

    The network instability becomes apparent:
    - When I try to open a site in my IE 7 I get timeouts
    - FTP download / upload breaks…also timeouts
    - The access to my router is also sometimes impossible
    - Extremely Network break-downs on pings:

    ------------------------------------------------------
    C:\Documents and Settings\user>ping www.google.com -t

Pinging www.l.google.com [209.85.135.147] with 32 bytes of data:

The extremely network break-downs doesn’t exists permanent. This happens frequently. Sometimes the network work good (but this time is very limited ? )
At the beginning of this problem I thought it was my router. I exchange my router from a „T-COM Speedport W900V“ to „AVM FRITZ!Box WLAN 3170 Wireless LAN Router“ and the problem still exists.

The next idea I had was that both PC are on W-LAN. So I connect it directly to the router with a network cable. But still the same problem ?

When you look at the pings to google.com and to my router you could say: „big downloads are processing there“ but NO! I do not have any big downloads at this time on any PC.

The next point that I thought about was virus and Trojans. But this is to 90 % impossible ? “Kaspersky Anti Virus“ and „Spybot - Search & Destroy“ are installed on both PCs from the beginning.
Can anyone tell me what the problem is? Or how I can analyze this issue?

If you are using SP2 disable the firewall and try again. If this should be it you will have to configure the firewall on both machines.
