    I can't uninstall SP1 Build 2600 !

I have downloaded the final release of windows XP1 from MS. Until now I have been running this beta version which leaves a lovely little message above my task bar which says Windows XP Professional for testing purposes only. Build 2600.020802-1900
9Service Pack 1, v.1090) I attempted to install the newest SP1 release over this to no avail . It seemed to install but the damn message is still on my desktop. I then attempted to uninstall SP1 as I downloaded the uninstall files with newest version but I am still left with this beta version. How can I uninstall this completely so I can install the final SP1 release ?

To remove the "for testing purposes....." message, download the attached file, unzip it,and double click the reg file to enter it in the registry.
    Then reboot.

Or you can try this method:
Go to start, run, type certmgr.msc
and press enter, then lookup this (see pic).Delete the entry by right clicking it and selecting delete. Then reboot.
    (thanks to Bink)

It would be better to have no traces of the Beta SP1 if you are going to install the final version. My suggestion, reformat and clean-install Windows XP then install the final SP1.

I second conan's suggestion...even though rev's will work fine. but with an OS sp1 change I would start from scratch so you start fresh to save you later headaches.

Can you third an opinion? Because if you can then I third Conan's advice.
