Question Outlook-iPod problem with sync contacts

(XP, all legit licensed software, full Office suite, latest iPod 50Gb, latest iTunes)

    (Outlook, not Outlook Express)

iTunes will not sync/export recently added Outlook Contacts nor any Outlook Calendar data whatsoever. It used to work fine but now something's wrong. (Music, videos and photos sync fine.)

Both Contacts and Calendar from Outlook are checked in the Summary screen.
The sync progress box says it's doing it, but it's only taking over the same old data, not the recently added/updated.

I have restored the iPod settings from scratch as advised. No help.

I have tried with 'enable as disk' and without - makes no difference.

Outlook keeps collapsing when iTunes is running:.

The Outlook icon remains in the systray but if clicked gives the warning 'Application failed'.
Outlook then does not appear in 'Apps (running)' although OUTLOOK.exe remains listed in 'Processes (running)'.
I have to stop OUTLOOK.exe in Processes and when it's restarted it needs to rebuild the Personal Folders.
Sometimes, iTunes says Outlook needs to be closed down and restarted. That means I have to go into Task Manager to turn Outlook off, etc. (as above).

Seems to be some sort of newly-arisen conflict between Outlook and iTunes, and neither Help book can, er, help. If anyone here can, I'd be grateful.

    Thank you.

Think it must be something up with Outlook. It's hung twice this evening, without iTunes on.

Right click My Computer and select Properties.

On the Advanced tab. Click on Settings under Performance.

Click on Data Execution Prevention tab and select "Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select."

Click on Add and browse to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office11\. Add OUTLOOK.EXE

Also browse to C:\Program Files\iTunes and add iTunes.exe and iTunesHelper.exe.

    Click apply.

I take it that should stop iTunes from crashing Outlook in future.

But does it also mean I have to forget syncing contacts & calendar to iPod?

I would presume so. But unless your contacts and calendar change often, that shouldn't really cause too many problems.

OK, done that. Now I'll try syncing contacts and will let you know what happens.

I haven't got Spybot for finding all these rogues.
    I use AdAware (with Norton).
What do you think of Spybot?

No change. Still not syncing. Grr. But no harm done and (fingers crossed) no Outlook collapses in future.

    Thank you very much indeed.
