HELP! Lost document, Word 2007
I opened an attachment from an email, a job application as it happens, fllled it in, clicked the save button and closed Word.
It's gone!
I can't find any recovery file, .tmp file or any of the usual tricks to get a document back.
Any ideas?
PS I know I should have done a Save As first

If you clicked "save" it would have saved the changes to the original attachment and not created a new file.
Re-open the attachment in the email and you should see your changes in it.

It is also possible that it is in the temporary folder. If you open Word again it might show in the Recent Documents area.
It realy depend on the email client that you use. Outlook will save the changes back to the attachment, but most web clients will not, and will save to the file (which is usually opened from a temporary folder)
If you still could not find it, let us know the email client that you used

The attachment was from an email received by RASing into my University email account, like webmail I suppose?? I'm on site wednesday but I don't see how it could have saved it back there.
Strangely the Recent Documents button on Word is greyed out. I must have something not set up correctly.
Anyway, thanks for the suggestions but I have now filled it all in again. Luckily I had printed out a large chunk so just had to copy type it back in.

Good to hear you got some of the work back... I hope the job application wasn't for tech support

if it was a remote location (using RAS or VPN.....I haven't heard of a RAS conneciton since the NT days
) it probably is saved on the temp of the server that you connected to and not in your PC
