Speed up display
There was a feature in XP to speed up the display of start up items. You Right ckicked on the desktop, Select properties, click on appearance tab, click on Effects, and then Uncheck Slow shodows under menus. That does not work with an older Vista machine I am working on. Is there another way with Vista. Thanks,
Mike

Right click the Desktop and and select Personalize
Click the link for 'Window Color and Appearance' and then click the 'Open classic appearance properties for more color options' link. This should open the Appearance Settings window.
Click on the 'Effects' button and this will give you the options you are looking for.
