Homegroup doesn't recognize password
I'm using Windows 7 Homegroup to connect the house computers and it works well. I just built a new machine and it's running well. It recognizes the Homegroup started by the correct name but when I put in the password (yes, the correct one) it says it's wrong. I even changed the password and the other machines in the house were prompted to switch and they connected just fine. The main computer just doesn't seem to take the password from the new one.

Does the time and date on the new machine match the rest of the HomeGroup.
If not, try resyncing the time on the new machine.
Right click the clock > Adjust date/time. On the Internet Time tab click 'Change settings' and 'Update now'. Try different time servers in the drop down list if it times out.

My spam catcher caught the notifier for this thread or I would have tried your suggestion and thanked you profusely.
Instead, I tried the troubleshooting guide. I usually find these things to be a complete waste of time but this time it paid off.
Synchronized the clocks and Presto. I can transfer all my old files to the new computer.
Thanks.
