2021's Call of Duty is reportedly called Vanguard and set during World War 2.

Eurogamer has corroborated elements of a report from Modern Warzone which arrived earlier this week, claiming that COD 2021's working title is "Call of Duty WWII: Vanguard" and is being developed by Sledgehammer Games.

Eurogamer says that Activision plans to "stick with the Vanguard subtitle for the final version," but disagrees with Modern Warzone's claim that the game "takes place in an alternate timeline where 1945 wasn't the end of World War 2." Instead, they believe Vanguard "has a traditional WW2 setting."

Sledgehammer Games previously worked on Call of Duty: WWII and Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. We already knew Activision was planning to release another Call of Duty game this year thanks to their Q4 2020 earnings call, where they said this year's Call of Duty would land in Q4 of 2021.
