Sega is set to offer a collection of newly remastered Sonic the Hedgehog games called Sonic Origins on June 23.

The five games included with Sonic Origins are Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic CD, and Sonic 3 & Knuckles! That last title is actually a combination of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Sonic & Knuckles, which were originally released separately back in 1994.

Sonic Origins will be available for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Steam, and the Epic Games Store on June 23 for $39.99. The game is also coming to Switch, but doesn't have a release date yet. By pre-ordering the game, you'll guarantee access to the Start Dash DLC pack, which includes 100 Bonus Coins (in-game currency), Mirror Mode is unlocked, and there's a choice of themed Letterbox Backgrounds to use.

Sega is offering a Standard Edition of the game, which only includes the main game content (and Start Dash DLC). There's also a Digital Deluxe Edition ($44.99), which adds Hard Missions, character animations in the main menu, camera controls over the main menu islands, character animations during the music islands, and additional music tracks from Genesis games. According to VGC, there will be 11 Hard Missions, 10 Letterbox Background designs, and 73 music tracks taken from Sonic Spinball, Chaotix, and Sonic 3D Blast.

If you opt for the Standard Edition, all additional content can be purchased separately as part of a Premium Fun Pack and Classic Music Pack. Regardless of the version purchased you'll be able to play as Sonic, Tails, or Knuckles, and new animated content has been created for each game. What remains unclear is how Sega intends to use the in-game currency.

All games included in the collection were originally released between 1991-1994, and all have been re-released several times for more recent platforms including the GBA, Wii, 3DS, Xbox, PlayStation, Android, iOS, Ouya, and Windows.
