Following a US launch earlier this year, Apple is rolling out its Self Service Repair program across Europe. Customers in Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain, Sweden, and the UK can now complete their own iDevice repairs using the same manuals, parts, and tools as Apple Store locations and authorized third-party providers.

While Apple supplies more than 200 parts and tools needed for common repairs on the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 lineups, as well as Mac notebooks with Apple silicon, you'll need at least some experience with what the company called "the complexities of repairing electronic devices."

"We believe the best technology for our customers and for the planet is technology that lasts, which is why we design our products to be durable and rarely require maintenance or repair," Apple Chief Operating Officer Jeff Williams said in a statement. "But when a repair is needed, we want customers to have many options for safe, reliable, and secure repair."

Return replaced parts to Apple for refurbishment or recycling, and you may receive credit off the purchase of tools like torque drivers, repair trays, display and battery presses. Weeklong rental kits, meanwhile, are available for $49 and ship for free.

Apple's first virtual Self Service Repair Shop opened earlier this year in the US, offering more than 200 parts and tools for at-home servicing of an iPhone 12, 13, or third-gen SE. Not everyone is interested in (or capable of) DIY; those folks are encouraged to visit a professional, including Apple's own certified online repair service.
