WhatsApp's latest beta release includes the ability to link your email account to your WhatsApp account. Originally spotted by WABetaInfo, the feature simply requires you to enter your email address within the app and then verify that it’s yours by clicking on a verification link sent to your inbox. Once it’s added, you’ll be able to use your email address to log in to the app, specifically as a way to receive the 6-digit verification code during the login process.

To add your email address, go to the Account Settings menu, where you’ll find a new Email Address option.

Phone numbers are still required to have a WhatsApp account; however, the feature could come in handy in situations where you might have difficulty receiving an SMS message.

The email feature is available in the current beta version of WhatsApp for iOS and Android, 2.23.24.10. Presuming the experience goes well for beta users, we can expect the feature to arrive in the traditional version of the app soon.
