check these settings
goto control panel
network connections
right click "local area connections"
select properties
make sure tcp/ip is installed
select internet protocal properties
make sure everything is set to automatic
next
goto start run
type cmd
in the dos box type ipconfig
see if you get any info
type ipconfig/release
next
type ipconfig/renew
you should see an ip for att
if not
goto device manager and make sure your ethernet card is installed
give update for more info

if you have a firewall installed
uninstall it for now along with any pop-up blocker
these will only complicate the problems

you have to goto startmenu run
type cmd
type ipconfig/release
enter
type ipconfig/renew
enter
you should have a Connection-specific DNS Suffix
if its blank then you are not comunicating with the internet
reset the modem and reboot the computer

Hey lynchknot, glad to see that you got your cable , sorry to see that you are having trouble. I had the something happen in that when the cable guy came and hooked it up he could not get it working so it was up to me to do so.
Have a look at this and let us know what you find out. As well it looks like you are using ether net connection, have you tried the USB to see if it will work?
