Shutting Down toooo fast - Lol

I have been running winxp for along time and thought i'd go back
to Win2000 Pro and when I hit the shut down key the normal screen
pops up saying Windows is shutting down ect, but almost instantaneously it pops up, and my machine shuts off.

The reason i'm inquiring about this is that almost everytime i restart
my machine (during boot-up) it goes into scandisk like it didn't
    properly shut down...?

    Any ideas...

    Thanks..!

Did you install the latest Service Pack for Windows 2000? I think that they addressed this problem in one of the service packs.

The problem with sutting down so fast is that is that the OS doesn't give enougt time to the hard disk to send the data from the cache to be saved, and you end up losing some data. That might be way it runs scandisk at start.
This was found with processors over 800Mhz
MS addressed this issue by releasing a fix. I can't check the name because I installed in all my PCs already, but it was something like Disk cache (or very similar).
    Just run a Windows Update.
The service pack is a good place to look, but I think this was addressed separately, since even having the SP will appear in the Win Upd. web page.
This was already included in Xp

    Thanks Dehcbad25...!

This makes perfect since, that's exactly how it felt...like it was bailing
sooo quickly that it didn't have time to finish what it normally would before it closed the door, Or better yet, The way you said it.. Lol

I'm going on a search to find the fix now that i know it has been an
    issue along with this fix.

I was use to Winxp taking 3 to 4 times as long before the lights
went off, then I installed speedy on the shut down, and pack a lunch for the bootup... Haha!

    Thanks again Sir..!
