    ** Don't install Windows update Q811493 **

I am not seeing this show up on any of the other forums that I use. I found this at AsusBoards.com ... I decided to just give you the link..

Check it out if your system has slowed down for no apparent reason.....

I have it installed but have not noticed any slow down of Windows, so it stays on for now

Thank you Tinker - I have this installed. Is it enough to uninstall in add/remove?

Some crazy things were happening on my desktop yesterday: drop down menus/start panel disappearing when moused over, opening 100 instances of the same app, etc........ seems ok now. I checked for trojan and virus but found nothing.

When I uninstalled this, windows said trojan remover may not work properly.

    A workaround

Rancho*: I simply advise you to *NOT* install this patch, or if you have - uninstall it. If you install the Q330909 [original article] patch instead you will get even newer versions of the affected system core files and circumvent the whole performance issue. We have already mentioned this in the release article for Q811493 by the way.

I think it's been fixed. I downloaded everything at Windows Update last night.

Conan, I too saw that Q811493 was on the windows update page, have you seen any performance hits after installing this version??

Surely, M$ would have fixed it, right ?
