    something is weird

i do not have a popup program and uninstalled most programs

i am installing service pack 1 for xp now

Today I actually had a client's PC exhibit the same symptoms you mention Egghead.

I have not yet found a solution so I'll be keen to get to the bottom of this. The PC is running Windows 2K SP3, IE 5.5 SP2. No other PCs in the immediate area (same config) are having this problem. There are no pop-up blockers installed on the machine either.

Problem: Javascript popups fail to load. Example of the type of pop-up here. (Click the picture to see the pop-up.)

You may have to reinstall java. Go to this site to see if any java is working at all.

    thanks everyone.
the security and all related folders are set to default and reset to lowest etc.....

java has been uninstalled reinstalled etc...
    both SUN java and Microsoft.

I get absolutely no popups of anykind

kinda nice but i need to disable that.

i will most likely need to format this stupid thing if i can't find the answer.

how can i restore ie to original system file?

is there something i need to run?

i have uninstalled most programs from my computer and it still wont work

    SupaStar,
check to see if you have the google toolbar installed
they have added a popup stopper.

How about the HOSTS file, sometimes ad-blocking and pop-stopping is in there, should be empty except for 127.0.0.1 localhost.

Might have to re-install IE6 or repair it.

Most of the cases I've see I was able to repair IE 5.5 or reinstall IE6.
