no link
I hope this is a simple question, although I've been having OS problems so I won't be surprise if it is.
In my OE mail, when I click on a link sent to me, it GOES NO WHERE!!! This is out of the blue (unless it is related to my OS problems) Is there a SIMPLE setting somewhere that I can "reset" the function back. Oh and about the OS problem, short of resinstalling the XP, I've tried the repair function and still find problems showing up each day.

Have you tried this? Internet Options, Advanced, Restore Defaults. Give it a try.

Try this:
Q. When I receive an e-mail message with a highlighted link, I can no longer click on it and go to the site. This just started, so I guess something has gotten corrupted. Internet Explorer works fine, and I can send and receive. I have Windows XP.
A. This is most likely the result of installing one of the Internet Explorer-Outlook Express security updates. If this is the case, you may need to hold the Ctrl key while clicking the URL to open the link.

Try this
In IE,go to tools > options. On the programs tab make sure there is a check in Internet Explorer should check to see whether it is the default browser. And then hit apply.
Now go to Start > Run, and type in regsvr32 urlmon.dll ,hit enter or OK.
Now try to open a link in OE.

Have you got any other browser or mail programs installed ?
Or have you recently uninstalled any other browser or mail programs?.
You could try re-installing XP SP1a.

My OE link ability is workin now. I think that doing the regsvr32 urlmon.dll worked but only after I reboot. Either that or something else I did. Thanks. By the way, I didn't install any other email program or browser. Also in the IE TOOL OPTION PROGRAM tab there is not a check in the box( Internet Explorer should check to see whether it is the default browser) after I did what Reverend suggested and reboot. Not sure what happened but it's working so thanks.

When you ran regsvr32 urlmon.dll did you have IE & OE open?
I forgot to mention in my earlier post that you should close both programs before running that command.

I had the same problem at work a couple of months ago. That in a sea of other problems, all related to registry. Fixed re-installing the OS since too many problems (I wrote about them)
But I found it to be a problem with IE. I never tried to troubleshoot it thought
