Office 2003 Critical Update: KB828041
Microsoft has released an update for Microsoft Office 2003. This update fixes a problem that occurs when you try to open or to save a Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003 file, a Microsoft Office Word 2003 file, or a Microsoft Office Excel 2003 file that includes an OfficeArt shape that was previously modified and saved in an earlier version of Microsoft Office. When a PowerPoint 2003 file, a Word 2003 file, or a Excel 2003 file is opened in an earlier version of Office, empty "complex" properties may be introduced into the file and a bit may be changed in the file record that describes these properties. Earlier version of Office will ignore this bit value but when this bit value is detected in Office 2003, you may experience the following symptoms:
The document may not open completely.
The document may be corrupted.
The document may open but with missing content.
You might receive an error message.

Apparently it won't appear on the Office Update site until the 11th. As the heading of kb Article states "Overview of the Office 2003 Critical Update: November 11, 2003"
I installed the update manually with no problems.

This update required both of my Office 2003 CD's, was it the same for your Rev? I thought that retaining the install files on my hard drive would eliminate the need for putting back the CD's in.

Nope,i didn't need the CD's.
Make sure you have a folder named: C:\MSOCache
I think that is one of the folders it scans. (not 100% certain though)

Yup I have that folder but it requested for the CD's. Maybe I should have pointed it to the folder instead.

Perhaps you chose the option to delete the setup files when installation was complete.

Re-download it,and then try installing it with NAV disabled.

Conan may have received a part/interrupted download. Also,NAV scans the update files during install and therefore it may be causing the install procedure to freeze or fail.

My home and office setups are nearly identical except for hard drive sizes.

If you no longer have the installation files, you can go to Micrsoft's Office Download page, Office 2003 Service Pack 1, and download Office2003SP1-kb842532-fullfile-enu.exe
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...4fc47#filelist
Office2003SP1-kb842532-fullfile-enu.exe: Download this file if you do not have access to your original product CD-ROM or if you have experienced problems installing the Office2003SP1-kb842532-client-enu.exe file.
It is recommended that you quit any programs you are running.
In Windows Explorer, double-click the .exe file that you saved to your hard disk drive, and follow the instructions on the screen.
