Are you getting the same HUGE text problem from Office Update?
ANyway, I had similar trouble on new install of XP. I installed SP1 and RPC patches from CD. Then Checked 'add/remove prgs' and patches were there, but not SP1 ? Then i went to windows update, clicked 'Yes' to install MS update, then clicked 'scan for updates' and went straight from 0% to 100% then came back with error message, saying cant display etc

LK, have you recently run an sfc /scannow or a system restore.

LK are you still having trouble with Windows Update? I just jumped out there since it has been awhile, and it says there are no critical updates for my system. When I viewed my update history it showed my last update was around 11/21. Have there not been any updates posted since then for XP Pro?
