My standby icon in XP is grayed out

I've tried twice to use the AGP driver from the CD that came with the mobo. It made no difference re the faded standby button even after required reboot. So I then went to the aopen.com site, found the driver there; it was one of those exe files with the unzip feature built in. It said "Unzip to C:\Docume ~1\John\LOCALS~1\Temp". I told it OK. It unzipped 72 files successfully but I cannot find them; I cannot find a folder called LOCALS and nothing called LOCALS ~1 and a search for "Temp" found nothing I could associate with AGP drivers/my motherboard. Anyway, the icon is still faded and non-working.

Any comments/suggestions at this point?

Oh, by the way, it was on the CD container that it said VGA drivers were included, but it did NOT list such when I looked at the contents as the CD itself listed them. Nor did the site list any VGA drivers for this mobo.

Go to Windows Explorer, click on Tools, Folder Options, View, then click on "Show hidden files and folders", then OK. Now in Windows Explorer expand the following folders, C:, Documents and settings, John, Local Settings, Temp. It should be there in the Temp folder.

Well, Conan, followed your instructions, found the folder (the SiS Acceleration Graphic Port 1.11 from the mfg.), installed it, rebooted...but it did not correct the problem. Thestandby icon is still faint and doesn't work. What options are now left?

Supastar. It gets confusing at times: the difference between chipset drivers, VGA drivers. graphics drivers, AGP drivers. They all seem concerned with viewing the monitor screen. But I never seem to find clear precise definitions of each of these. Perhaps the distinctions are not clear...but you can see the difficulty!! Sometimes I feel much of the computer world is imprecise, shall I say. I guess it's too many programmers, multiple OSs, too many programs, each doing the same thing a bit differently, too many causes of whatever error
