Mirror or Sync folders/files
What I'm lookig to do is very basic.
I want to get a 2nd hard drive or external HD, and have files/folders copied, backedup, mirrored etc..... to it
Features would need to be such that it does this on some schedule, can detech and update only the differences.... even when files have been moved to other folders etc....
Looking for something basic, straightforward, bulletproof.
Note: I have researched this a bit and see a lot mentioned but most seems to be regarding sync'ing across network or to cell phone etc...
My use would be for a single PC with 2 HD's

Just wanted to update what I'm looking for.
I see some of the things people use are more for the "sync" side, ie keeping
Ipods, phones etc in sync....
My use is different in that I have a 2nd hard drive and just want to use it
as a backup, mirror or sync, ie have my main folder copied/updated to the backup when there are changes....
Also, freeware is preferred.
Thanks

what if you schedule full backups using xp backup tool to your ext. hard drive.

Thanks, that looks like an option. I'm wondering about some of the features.
1. does it zip the files
2. does it just bkp the new or changed files
3. If I remove a file from the original, does it remove it from the bkp version ?
(I wouldn't want that)

I'd still recommend sync toy 2.1* ... old but reliable for all files/folders and very flexible rules and easy to setup.

Anyone familiar with some of the windows commands that might work ?
like mklink, which would create a symbolic link, and there is a junction option as well...
I'm not sure if they would act the way I want them to.
like a mirror, whenever I change/ad/update folder A, folder B does the same.
(folder B) would be on a different drive.
