you need to boot up with the xp cd and go into the recovery console and type fixboot /? not sure what the switch should be but the ? should give you the available switches to run to fix your issue.

Formatted the new c drive and ran fixboot but now it says "NTLDR is missing press Ctrl Alt Del to restart" everytime it trys to boot up. Also tried changing bios to boot only the d drive but after more strange errors it comes up with the same thing.
Something is required to transfer control to the d drive after c starts booting?
