My win2k is taking really long to shut down - takes time to save the prefrences, after that it runs like normal.
People say its the 329170 hotfix - anyone knows something about that.
Win2 k + SP2 + all hotfixes installed

As far as I have heard - that makes things worse???

I just did a clean install of W2K pro and my shutdown is also slower than usual.I had SP3 on the previous copy but have not installed it yet on the fresh install.I would think that is the problem.I am not on that computer right now but I do believe you can uninstall your suspected hot fix to try the least tedious remedy.BTW sp3 worked great on my earlier install, and did not make anything worse.

Cacheman is a utility designed to improve the performance of your
computer by optimizing the disk cache, memory and a number of other
settings. Cacheman is able to prevent frequent paging to the hard
disk, resulting in improved performance, system reaction time and
stability. Wizards and predefined profiles make it suitable for
novices and yet it is also powerful and versatile enough for the
more experienced user. Cacheman also corrects generic problems on
systems with more than 512MB of RAM.

You got your result, that's what matters. But you may want to install sp3.If you do you can uninstall it only if you choose "Archive" when promted during the setup. You can't miss the prompt.Glad you are shutting down fast.
