I can't thank you enough for posting the solution to the problem. I had the problem for about 8 days, but wouldn't give up so easily, by formating the partition and install XP again ( I've got multiboot with win98 so I just used that one ) and luckly I didn't. I just did what you wrote "copy userinit.exe to wsaupdater.exe" from win98, rebooted into XP and jubii it worked.
